These terms govern your use of the SHINDO app, the SHINDO Pro subscription, this website and the SHINDO Node device. Please also read the Emergency information disclaimer — it is part of these terms.
SHINDO is operated by Meta Studios Creative Agency KK, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, Japan ("we"). By installing or using SHINDO you agree to these terms, our Privacy policy and the Emergency information disclaimer.
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the SHINDO app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules. The app is licensed, not sold. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies between you and Apple; where it conflicts with these terms, the stricter protection for you applies. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content and has no obligation to provide support.
SHINDO relays and explains information published by the Japan Meteorological Agency and other public bodies. It does not forecast earthquakes, it does not issue its own intensity forecasts, and it is not a substitute for the government's emergency broadcasts or the instructions of local authorities. Delivery depends on networks and systems we do not control and may be delayed, incomplete or unavailable. See the disclaimer for the full statement.
You may create an account with Sign in with Apple or Google. You are responsible for activity under it. In Community you agree not to post content that is false or misleading about an emergency, impersonates an authority, harasses anyone, or is unlawful. We may remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules, and we provide reporting and blocking tools in the app. Posts are public and you grant us a licence to display them within SHINDO.
SHINDO Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold through the App Store. The price and period are shown before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple ID; the subscription renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period. Manage or cancel in iOS Settings → Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. Pro features are described in the app; features marked "coming soon" are not part of the current subscription.
Do not interfere with the service, probe or attack our servers, resell access, or use SHINDO to send false alerts. SHINDO Node must be operated within Japan and in accordance with the Radio Act; see section 9.
SHINDO, the SHINDO logo, Nazu and the app's design are ours. Data shown in the app belongs to its publishers and is used under their terms (Data sources & attribution).
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SHINDO is provided "as is". We are not liable for loss or damage arising from reliance on the information in the app, from alerts that were late, missing, cancelled or wrong, or from unavailability of the service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or consumer rights that cannot be waived under the Japanese Consumer Contract Act.
Sales. Devices are sold within Japan under the 特定商取引法に基づく表記, which forms part of these terms.
Warranty. We repair or replace a Node that fails under normal use within 12 months of delivery. The warranty does not cover physical damage, water ingress, modified hardware or firmware other than ours. Statutory rights are unaffected.
Radio. The Node's radio module carries Japanese technical conformity (技適) certification and our firmware is designed to comply with ARIB STD-T108 for the 920 MHz band. You must not modify the radio, antenna or transmit parameters, and must not operate the device outside Japan. Doing so may breach the Radio Act and voids the warranty.
Mesh behaviour. A Node relays other users' encrypted messages as part of the mesh. Delivery over the mesh is best-effort and not guaranteed.
You may stop using SHINDO and delete your account at any time (how). We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect. Continued use after that date means you accept the new terms.
