SHINDO Node

When the network dies, the mesh wakes up.

Your family's messages, carried by radio.

After a major earthquake the first thing to fail is the phone network. SHINDO Node is a small LoRa radio that pairs with the app over Bluetooth and passes your messages, position and SOS from node to node on Japan's licence-free 920 MHz band — no tower, no Wi-Fi, no subscription.

How it works

Every node is a relay.

Each message hops across the nodes around you until it reaches its destination. Nodes keep undelivered messages for up to 72 hours and retry on their own, so a text sent during a blackout arrives when the other person's node comes back in range — even if both phones were off in between.

Built for the worst day

SOS goes first. Always.

An SOS carries your last known position and jumps the queue on every node it touches; a fifth of each node's airtime is reserved for it. Position sharing is opt-in and uses the node's own GPS, so it works when your phone has none.

Node FAQs

No. The 920 MHz band used by SHINDO Node is licence-free in Japan for certified devices operating under ARIB STD-T108. Our firmware enforces the band's carrier-sense and burst-length rules automatically.

A node relays other people's messages on its own, which is how the mesh grows. To read and write messages you pair it with SHINDO on your iPhone over Bluetooth.

The 920 MHz radio is certified for Japan. Operating it in other countries may be illegal; we only ship within Japan for now.

Messages between contacts are encrypted end to end on your phone; relaying nodes see only ciphertext and routing data. Position sharing is off unless you turn it on. See Security.
