Smart Lights · Philips Hue

Phones sleep. Rooms don't.

SHINDO Smart Lights turns your Philips Hue into an earthquake alarm. When JMA issues an early warning for your area, our server flashes your lights from the cloud — before the shaking, even while your phone is in another room.

How Smart Lights works

01

Link once

Settings → Smart Lights → Connect Hue. You sign in to your Philips Hue account and approve SHINDO. The link goes from our server to your Hue Bridge, so nothing depends on your phone being awake.

02

Choose the rooms

Pick which rooms react: the bedroom at night, the living room by day, all of them if you like. SHINDO never touches lights you did not choose.

03

JMA speaks, the room answers

When JMA forecasts the alarm tier for your area, the lights strobe red through the warning window, then settle to full white so you can see. A cancellation puts them back the way they were.

The alarm you cannot sleep through.

Three moments, one link.

Warning

Red, fast, impossible to miss.

The strobe starts the second our server receives JMA's warning for your area and runs until the estimated arrival. It is bright enough to wake a sleeper and short enough not to blind one.

Rated, not nationwide

It flashes for your area, not the whole country.

The lights follow the same per-area rating as the alert itself. A warning for Hokkaido does not light up a bedroom in Setagaya.

Cloud to Bridge

Your phone can be off.

The trigger travels from our server in Tokyo to Signify's cloud to your Bridge. Asleep, charging in the kitchen, or out of battery — the room still goes red.

Revocable

Unlink in one tap.

Remove SHINDO from the same screen you linked it, or from your Hue account. We delete the token immediately and keep no record of your lights.

What you need

A Hue Bridge and any Hue bulb.

Colour bulbs flash red; White Ambiance bulbs flash at full brightness. Bluetooth-only bulbs without a Bridge cannot be reached from the cloud. Smart Lights is part of SHINDO Pro.

Get Smart Lights first.

Download SHINDO, link Hue in Settings, and sleep through the small ones knowing the room will tell you about the big one.

Smart Lights relays warnings issued by the Japan Meteorological Agency; SHINDO does not forecast earthquakes. Delivery depends on your internet connection, Signify's cloud and your Hue Bridge being online, and is not guaranteed. Keep your phone's government emergency alerts switched on.
