Warnings that reach everyone.

An emergency app that some people cannot use is not finished. This is where we stand and what we are still fixing.

Our target

We aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 level AA on this website and the equivalent Apple accessibility practices in the app, and we follow the intent of Japan's JIS X 8341-3:2016.

What works today

The website can be used with a keyboard, has a "Skip to content" link and visible focus outlines.
Animations stop when your device asks for reduced motion.
Text is real text in three languages, not images; colour is never the only way information is shown in alerts.
In the app: alerts combine sound, Critical Alert vibration, on-screen text and optional Philips Hue lights, so a warning does not depend on hearing alone.

Known gaps

Feature videos on this site do not yet have captions or text alternatives. Each video will ship with captions.
Some decorative carousels on the home page are easier to use by swiping than with a screen reader; their content is repeated in plain text on the feature pages.
